"What was one of the reasons artists stopped focussing on
realism?"
The first still image ever was taken by the Daguerre in 1837, in that period of time many people would hire artists to pain them. A reason why many artists stopped focusing on realism was because of Daguerre, since he invited something that was able to capture a moment many people decided to start using that technique instead of asking artists for painting, mostly because it took a lot less time and was more accurate.
"Who was e first artist to focus on ‘capturing emotion and light in a painting rather than capture realism’?"
Since the photographs have been invited many artists felt frightened about losing their jobs so they started experimenting. One of the very first people who started doing something new was J.W.Turner, his focus was to capture the emotions and the light in his painting which would make the audience feel certain emotions just by looking at their piece of art. He no longer painted people but the nature and things that were surrounding him.

This painting was done by Turner and its called “Fisherman at sea”, when I searched for his painting I couldn’t pick one that I would like the most, all of his painting show emotion. I decided to choose this painting because I like how the dark colours represent fear and danger, on the painting you can see people on the boat who are struggling to get to the land during a storm.
“What movement was trying to ‘capture a feeling or experience rather than to achieve accurate depiction’.
I believe Monet was expressing his feelings/ experience throughout his
paintings,

San Giorgio – Monet.
The painting represents either a sunset or a sunrise, what I like about this
painting is how it gives you a feeling of calmness and warmth. On the
painting you can see a town by the river and the reflection of it on the water.
What did Cezanne say that everything can be reduced to?
“everything in nature is based on the sphere, cone, and
cylinder.”

-
Mont Sainte-Victoire - Paul Cezanne
Ceznne used Oil paint to create
-
this piece of work,I chose this
-
painting because of its colours and the angl he picked, its simple yet the composiotion makes you wonder why he chose to paint the skull by the pile of fruits. I like how the
-
colours are pale, it makes me
-
feel calm and relaxed.
-
The scenario looks
-
peaceful.
Pablo Picasso “ Weeping Woman”
. In this painting you can see a lot
of lines and bright colour but
I believe it has a deeper meaning.
You can see that everything
beside some part of the face are
done in bright colours except the
mouth and a part the hand which
are painted in cold and pale
shades because it shows how the
person really feels.

"What did Photorealism develop in response to? "
Now days the cameras are a lot more better which makes the
photographs look very detailed and clear. Some artists use that as
reference for t heir work, many like to draw the things from a
photograph and make it look as real as possible.

-Gottfried Helnwein:
This very talented artist recreates pictures of a young girl and paints
them using Oil and acrylic paint. I really adore this persons work
because when you first look at it you think that its a real picture.
The artist pays attention to the smallest details such as facial hair,
wrinkles or even freckles, it looks even better than the original
picture.

Pedro Campos- Pedro who unlike other artist prefers to
paint everyday objects, things such as soda cans, marvel
balls, or food. I wanted to mention him because his work
looks so realistic that it can be mistakes for normal
photographs
Kamalky Laureano- This is another artist who paints people of
all ages, he creates painting on big canvases by using oil paint.
I like how the light on his paintings makes it look even more
realistic and alive.

In may 2008 a very powerful earthquake hit china, it left11 million people homeless and
over 90,000 people were found dead or
missing.
Many of the ones who died were school children aged 3 to 17, this is because the
school weren’t built properly, apparently the builders have ignored safety codes when
erecting the schools. Ai Weiwei wanted to
find out how many exactly children were killed but the Government refused to give out
any details and ignored Ai several times. On his blog he kept asking questions such as
“how many?” “who is dead ?“ “where are the bodies?”.
The artists decided to create a “Citizens
Investigation project” in which a big number of volunteers would go around China and
knock on each door to find out the number of children and their names who have died in the Sichuan Earthquake. Although Ai Weiwei got punished by the government in form of
physical abuse for his amount of curiosity
that did not stop him from carrying on with his idea. He has collected metal pieces and
pipes from all the school that have collapsed during the earthquake and put them all
together into one piece, each piece
represents a child that have died.
When I went to see the exhibition I wasn’t
expecting that piece of art to be so massive, it
took the space of the entire hall, in the same
room there were names of children and their age hang on the wall, the list carried on, on
both sides of the room. I spend a lot time
doing research about this piece and I admit
that Ai Weiwei met his goal, this piece of art
moved me and made me understand how
seriously that earthquake has affected people.
his work wasn’t always looking realistic or accurate although it was
representing something. His main focus was the colours and the way they would apply to the scenery. I think he liked to pain the world
the way he seen things himself, also he would paint things the by the first
impressions of it leaving the audience with just a hint of the form.
The following essay is about the artists from the past and the present,
I will be discussing my opinion on Camera and if it did in fact kill art or
not.
Back in the day people would hire artists to create portraits of them or
paint something that they would like to hang in their houses. Paintings
were the only form of capturing a moment like we do now with cameras
and pictures, although it took a lot more work and time to create a
portrait, back then being an artist seemed like one of the most important
proffessions out there.
In 1837 a first ever photograph was taken by the Daguerre, at that
moment he did not only changed the life's of many people but by that he
has forced artists to create a new era of art where they would paint more than just simple portraits.
Artists felt frightened of losing their jobs now that cameras were invaded, people such as J.W Turner started to experiment with art, Turner was
the first artist who managed to capture emotions and light in his
paintings.
After some time artist named Monet came along who also knew how to
perfectly connect to the audience by painting something more than just
old boring portraits, his paintings might not show much details but the
lighting and the colours make up for it. When you take a look at one of his paintings such as “San Giorgio” you can see that he has chosen really
happy and bright colours, it gives you a feeling of warmth and peace.
Since the time the very first camera was made Artists changed their
styles of art, one of very known artists who completely went against
everything and created cubism was Pablo Picasso, he has painted things
in a complete different and new perspective by turning things into shapes or arranging some features differently.
As time passed many artists developed their purpose in art, Salvador Dali the creator of the famous melting clocks was an artist who liked to
capture dreams in his paintings, his work looks really interesting and
has a nice concept, it’s also different and very unique from anything that people seen so far during that time.
However , now days Artists don’t see cameras as a threat, in fact people
started to include cameras during a process of creating a drawings or
paintings. Through out the years we managed to create cameras that are able to take pictures in really good quality which means that the smallest details can be seen. Artists now days use photographs to create
photorealistc paintings, artists such as Gottfried Helwein or Kamalky
Laureano have been using pictures that they took of people who are either close to them or complete strangers and turned them into art, the paintings are so detailed that it makes them look even better than the
original photographs. Although artists such as Monet ,J.W Turner or even Picasso are still inviduals that artists look up to to this day, we no longer get to see paintings like theirs being created.
In conclusion I believe that cameras made artists evolve into painting
emotions, It killed the style of art but at the same time it made artists
grow and find their own style of art.
DID THE CAMERA KILL ART?
Ai Weiwei Exhibition

" An artwork unable to make poeple feel uncomfortable or to feel different is not one worth creating. This is the difference between the artist and the fool."

The Sichuan Earthquake.
-
Describe what It looks like.
To me it looks like a pile of unwanted items, a soundwave or chocolate flakes
-
What is it made out of?
It's made out of metak pieces/pipes that he has collacted from schools that have scollapsed during the earthquakes.
-
What do you think he is trying to show?
I know for sure that he wants to show people the truth, the goverment kept everything as a secret so no one wasn't sure how many people died.
